Deferment period is 6 months. The automatic deferment will start from 1 April 2020. After the end of the 6 months, your payments will resume.

Please contact the Bank if you require a longer deferment period.

  2. Will I have to make any repayments, pay late payment penalties or incur charges during the deferment period?
    No.

  3. Do I have to provide proof that I have been affected by COVID-19?
    No.

  4. How will my interest/profit charges be calculated during the deferment period?
For conventional loans, interest will continue to be charged on the outstanding balance but interest will not be compounded during the moratorium period.

For Islamic financing, profit will continue to accrue on the outstanding principal amount. Such profit however will not be compounded and shall not exceed the contracted selling price in line with Shariah principles.

Banks will not impose any penalty or late payment charges on the deferred amount. The loan/ financing repayment/ payment are just deferred by 6 months.

There will be no impact on your CCRIS records during the deferment period.

Loans and financing under R&R before 1 April 2020 are eligible for the deferment subject to meeting the eligibility criteria.

2. Things you need to know about your outstanding credit card balances
    1. Credit card balances can be converted into a term loan of 3-years at an effective interest rate of 13% per annum.

    2. You can continue to use your credit card up to your remaining credit limit after taking into account the balance converted into the term loan. The outstanding balance which is converted into the term loan is treated as part of your credit card limit. Your monthly term loan instalments will then form part of the minimum monthly repayments on your credit card.
