Guided by our values of being Honourable, Enterprising, United and Committed, we believe in giving back to the communities where our people and our customers build their lives. With a deep understanding of the markets in which we operate, we are steadfast in our support of the social and economic development of these communities and invest in areas that create long-term value for them.
Our current corporate social responsibility focus is on Children, Education and the Arts, as we believe that feeding the mind is as important as feeding the soul. We support the arts through our signature 'Painting of the Year Competition' (which started in 2011) as well as sponsorships to children’s homes and schools across the county.
Driven by a passion to encourage talented artists in their creative pursuits, UOB started the Painting of the Year Competition in Singapore in 1982. Today, the annual art competition is the longest-running in Singapore and one of the most prestigious in Southeast Asia. To further promote Southeast Asian art, UOB extended the competition to Malaysia in 2011. The competition has since catapulted the careers of many local Malaysian professional artists including Gan Tee Sheng, Minstrel Kuik, Tiong Chai Heng, Yin Yen Sum and Azizi Yahya.
Every year, UOB Malaysia employees, their family members and friends raise funds for local charities as part of the UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk. Proceeds that are collected go to supporting children in need and youth, as well as students from communities facing socioeconomic challenges.
It is also part of UOB’s culture that all employees are encouraged and incentivised to play an active role in giving back to society by participating in the Bank’s volunteer and fundraising activities.
We are steadfast in our support for inclusive communities and remain committed to being Right By You - the communities where we operate.
