UOB Malaysia launches UOB GetBanker to enhance customers' property buying experience
New digital solution connects property buyers with mortgage bankers swiftly and securely
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 21 March 2018 – United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (UOB Malaysia) today announced the launch of UOB GetBanker, a mobile app that swiftly and securely matches prospective property buyers with the Bank's team of mortgage specialists. UOB GetBanker, which digitalises the property buying process, affirms the Bank's commitment to harness technology to improve the customer experience.
The UOB GetBanker mobile app draws on the best practice of ride-hailing apps to refer a prospective buyer to a UOB mortgage banker. Using the UOB GetBanker app, a property buyer or agent can search for a mortgage banker based on whether they are looking to purchase a residential or commercial property, the location and the price of the property. The buyer or agent, who will then be matched with a mortgage banker on the same day1, can also rate the banker's service thereafter and add this banker as a favourite banker for future reference.
Mr. Ronnie Lim, Managing Director and Country Head of Personal Financial Services, UOB Malaysia, said that the UOB GetBanker app will help to streamline the property buying process, making it simpler and smarter.
"Property agents typically rely on their own contact list of bankers to help property buyers find a mortgage banker. However, these bankers may not always be readily available or familiar with the type of property the buyer wants to purchase. The UOB GetBanker app addresses these issues by referring the prospective buyer to a UOB banker within minutes of generating a search," Mr Lim said.
To guide property buyers more efficiently, the UOB GetBanker app provides agents and buyers with the latest interest rate information for both residential and commercial loans. It also features a loan calculator to help buyers estimate the monthly loan repayments they will have to pay.
Mr Lim said, "As a bank with a sizeable residential mortgage loan portfolio, we know that homebuyers, especially first-time homebuyers, can sometimes feel overwhelmed by the property purchasing transaction. Through the UOB GetBanker app, a mortgage banker with the relevant expertise and training is assigned to advise homebuyers.
"The launch of the GetBanker app is also timely as we expect to see more first-time homebuyers enter the housing market in the next couple of years. The recent introduction of government incentives for first-time homeowners and a good supply of homes modestly priced between RM400,000 to RM600,000 will encourage more Malaysians to enter the property market. With the GetBanker app, we can help ensure that purchasing their first home is a pleasant, smooth and fuss-free experience."
GetBanker app to enable SMEs to integrate the property financing process
The UOB GetBanker app will also help small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to integrate the property financing process into their existing business operations to improve their access to bank financing for the acquisition of new properties.
Mr Raymond Chui, Executive Director and Country Head of Business Banking, UOB Malaysia, said the app will enable SMEs to access commercial property lending facilities quickly and efficiently.
"Through the UOB GetBanker app, our team of dedicated commercial mortgage bankers will be able to extend financing to our SME customers in a timely manner and ensure that we are able to respond quickly to our customers' business needs," Mr Chui said.
Through the UOB GetBanker app, property agents and buyers will have access to more than 290 residential and commercial mortgage specialists across UOB Malaysia's network nationwide.
Property agents, individual home buyers as well as commercial property buyers can download the UOB GetBanker app from Google Play and the Apple App Store.
