Can I arrange for my own fire insurance/fire takaful for my property financed with Citibank upon migration?

Yes, you can. However, you need to ensure that the property is adequately covered and the name of mortgagee is UOB Bank. Please provide copy of the renewed Fire Insurance Policy/Fire Takaful Certificate accordingly.
What will happen to the extra funds that I have deposited into my Home Loan/Financing account after migrated to UOB?

Upon migration to UOB,
  • For Home Loan, any prepayment or excess payment made into the account will be deposited into a redrawable bucket. This is only applicable for fully disbursed loans. The funds in a redrawable bucket will enjoy interest savings and the amount is redrawable for future instalments or can be withdrawn upon request.
  • For Home Financing, with the Notification Variation of Terms, any prepayment or excess payment made into the account will be deposited into a redrawable bucket. This is only applicable for fully disbursed financing. The funds in a redrawable bucket will enjoy profit savings and the amount is redrawable for future repayments or can be withdrawn upon request.
As for Flexi Mortgage, the excess payment will be used to offset based on the deposit offset capping of your interest bearing current account.

Note: Any funds received from EPF will be used to reduce loan/financing principle.
What will happen to my property title in Citibank’s custody now as my Citibank Home Loan/Financing account is still active? Will my ownership on the property be at stake?

Rest assured, as there will be no change to the ownership of the property. UOB will apply to the land office/relevant authority to change the name of the registered chargee from Citibank to UOB and this will be done in stages.
Is there any impact on my existing Mortgage Reducing Term Assurance (MRTA)/Mortgage Reducing Term Takaful (MRTT) taken with Citibank on my newly migrated UOB Home Loan/Financing?

No, there is no impact on the existing Mortgage Reducing Term Assurance (MRTA)/Mortgage Reducing Term Takaful (MRTT) that you have taken up with Citibank to cover your outstanding Home Loan/ Financing. UOB will initiate the takeover process with the existing MRTA/MRTT insurance/takaful provider to change the Master Policy/Certificate holder from Citibank to UOB.
If I want to transfer funds from overseas, do I use the swift code for Citibank or UOB?

You still need to use Citibank's swift code. From 16 July 2023 onwards, please use the UOB Malaysia's Swift Code.
How do I retrieve my full year loan/financing statement for my Home Loan/Financing account?

Upon migration to UOB, to retrieve your full year’s Home Loan/Financing transactions in 2023, please refer to the following documents:
  1. For Home Loan
    a. Citibank’s statement prior to 16 July 2023; and
    b. UOB’s year-end statement
  2. For Home Financing
    a. Citibank's statement prior to issuance of Notification of Variation of Terms; and
    b. UOB’s year-end statement
Starting from year 2024, you will receive a year-end loan/financing statement which will show the full year’s transactions of your account.
What is the difference between Citibank's & UOB's current account (CA) in Flexi Mortgage?

The Flexi Mortgage current account is Non-Interest Bearing for Citibank and Interest Bearing for UOB.

Is there any change to my Citibank Standing Instruction (SI) upon migration to UOB?

From 16 July 2023 onwards, if your Standing Instruction (SI) for Home Loan is with:
  1. Citibank (E.g. your SI from Citibank Saving/Current account):
    No action required as we will migrate the existing SI to UOB.
  2. Other Banks (E.g. your SI is from other bank’s Saving/Current account):
    Please arrange to update the SI by providing your new UOB Home Loan account number to the respective banks.
If your Standing Instruction (SI) for Home Financing is with:
  1. Citibank (E.g. your SI from Citibank Saving/Current account):
    No action required as we will migrate the existing SI to UOB, provided that you have updated the SI in your savings or current account to make instalment payments to the new UOB Home Financing account number. Please check our notification on your new account number and update your SI instructions accordingly, if you have not done so.
  2. Other Banks (E.g. your SI is from other bank’s Saving/Current account):
    Please arrange to update the SI by providing your new UOB Home Financing account number to the respective banks.
Is there any change to my monthly instalment/repayment due date?

From 16 July 2023 onwards,
  • For Home Loan/Financing account, your monthly instalment due date will remain unchanged.
    E.g. Your existing monthly instalment/repayment is due on the 10th of every month - this will remain unchanged upon migration, subject to UOB’s treatment of Saturdays and Public Holidays.
  • However, for Flexi Mortgage, there will be a change to your monthly instalment due date.
    Once migrated, all Flexi Mortgage monthly instalments will be due on the 1st day of every month.
If your due date is between 1st and 14th of the month, you are required to continue paying your monthly instalment per the due date with Citibank. Subsequently, post migration to UOB, your next monthly instalment will be due and payable on the 1st day of every month.

If your monthly instalment’s due date with Citibank is between 15th to the last day of the month, you are not required to pay this current monthly instalment. The next payable instalment in UOB is on the following month post the migration to UOB and it is due on the 1st day of the month and every month thereon.
Which bank should I contact if I would like to withdraw my EPF funds to make payments on my Home Loan/Financing account?

Please contact Citibank branches or call the Citibank Contact Centre, until 15 July 2023. From 16 July 2023 onwards, please contact UOB Contact Centre at 03-26128121 for EPF withdrawal request and please quote your new UOB Home Loan/Financing Account number to proceed.
Can I still use the cheque book that was issued to me with my Citibank Overdraft (OD) accounts?

Yes, you can. However, Citibank retail cheques clearing will be ceased effective from 1st July 2023. Please download the UOB TMRW app* and register using your migrated current account number as per communication letter sent in order to continue your online payments as usual.
How should I continue to make repayment/payment to my Citibank Home Loan/Financing after migration?

There is no change to your existing Citibank Home Loan/Financing account. Please note that your Citibank Home Loan/Financing account number remain unchanged at this juncture. Your Citibank Home Loan/Financing existing monthly instalment, interest/profit rate and tenure will remain as per your existing contract and terms. You may continue to repay/pay your monthly instalment as usual via the various Citibank payment channels such as (Citibank Online transfer, MEPS, Interbank GIRO, etc), where applicable.

From 16 July 2023 onwards, please use your UOB new account as per your communication letter sent to you.
  • For Home Loan, please note that your existing monthly instalment, interest rate and tenure will remain as per your existing contract and terms with Citibank.
  • For Home Financing, please refer to your Notification of Variation of Terms.
You may continue to repay/pay your monthly instalment/repayment via various UOB payment channels (UOB online transfer, MEPS, interbank GIRO, etc.), where applicable.
Upon migration from Citibank FlexiHome Loan to UOB Flexi Mortgage, will there be any charge to maintenance fee?

Yes. For UOB Flexi Mortgage current account, the maintenance fee remained at RM120 per year.
What happens if my instalment/repayment due date falls on a Saturday or Public Holiday?

Upon migration, your account will observe UOB’s Saturday and Public Holiday treatment. This means that if your monthly instalment falls on a Saturday or Public Holiday, your instalment due date will move to the next business day.

E.g. If your monthly instalment falls on 1st May (which is a public holiday), the due date will move to 2nd May if it is not a Saturday or Public Holiday.

For you to carry on enjoying the interest/profit saving, you can continue to make repayment/payment even on a Saturday or Public Holiday. Our system will recognise your repayment/payment and interest/profit which will be calculated based on the reduced principal accordingly.
Will my current Home Loan payment go through during the mortgage account migration process?

Please continue to make your Home Loan payment as usual except on 15 July 2023 as there will be a system maintenance and downtime from 12a.m. until 11.59p.m.

If you have set up a recurring payment on 15 July 2023, please make payment either before or after 15 July 2023.

No. However, a hard copy statement with your Home Loan/Financing account transactions recorded in Citibank will be provided to you via post.
