1. When is UOB implementing this new anti-malware security feature and what is it about?

From 26 May 2025, access to UOB TMRW will be restricted if an app downloaded outside official app stores with accessibility permissions enabled is detected on your Android device while using UOB TMRW. An on-screen alert will display the name of the detected app and you will need to either uninstall the app or turn off its accessibility permissions before you can continue using the UOB TMRW app.

Apps downloaded outside official app stores may contain malware and misuse permission settings in Android devices, allowing scammers to take control of your device, monitor your activities, steal personal details, and even make unauthorised transaction, compromising your banking information. This new security feature is to ensure a safe and secure banking experience, in line with industry wide efforts to combat financial scams caused by malware.

We value your privacy. Rest assured, the UOB TMRW app does not monitor your phone activities nor collect or store any personal data.

No, the security feature impacts only Android users.

No, your access to UOB TMRW app will remain restricted until you uninstall (recommended option) or turn off accessibility permissions for the detected app(s).

This is to mitigate the risk of malware attacks from potentially malicious apps which are commonly downloaded outside official app stores. However, if you are certain and trust that the mentioned app is safe, you may turn off its accessibility permission.

You will be brought to the settings directly based on the option you select. Once you have completed the action, simply relaunch the UOB TMRW app to continue with your banking.

Official app stores will review all their apps to ensure it meets their guidelines before it's published on their app store, this includes a security review. This reduces the risk of installing potentially harmful apps in your device, which may compromise your banking information.

Close and reopen the UOB TMRW app. If the issue persists, ensure all relevant permissions are turned off and try again.

If you trust these apps, you can turn off their accessibility permissions to prevent repeated on-screen alerts while trying to use the UOB TMRW app. You can follow these steps (steps may vary by phone model).

  1. Open Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Tap Installed services.
  3. Select the app and turn off accessibility permissions.

 

For Huawei:

  1. Open Settings > Accessibility features > Accessibility.
  2. Tap Installed services.
  3. Select the app and disable accessibility permissions.

 

For Xiaomi:

  1. Open Settings > Additional settings > Accessibility.
  2. Tap Installed services.
  3. Select the app and disable accessibility permissions.

 

For Android devices in general:

If you suspect your device is infected by malware, call our 24-Hour Fraud Hotline at +6 03-2612 8100 to activate the Kill Switch feature that would disable your UOB online banking access.

 

As a reminder, please check transaction alerts regularly and report any unauthorised transactions, errors, or discrepancies to UOB immediately.
